David John Lloyd is a renowned singer, songwriter and guitarist whose songs are uniquely his own style heavily influenced by his folk, rock, blues and instrumentalist background playing in The Boy, Dog and Carrot band, Ravenstone, Blues Train, and Steamroller. Influenced by James Taylor, John Martyn, John Renbourn, Bert Yansch Martin Simpson, Pierre Bensusan and Clive Carroll in his intricate guitar playing and melodies. He loves various irregular guitar tunings that expand his musical creative palate and his collection of guitars, his Martin J40, Lowden F35 and F23, and his Ralph Bown OM are testament to his addiction to fine guitars and their inspiration in his music making.
His successes include twice finalist of the Guitarist magazine, 'Acoustic Guitarist of the Year'.
He was finalist for a Bristol based songwriter competition, his song 'Hotel Room' receiving rave reviews from the judges.
He has supported various top artists including Oli Brown, Ainsley Lister, Ben Waters, and Buddy Whittington.
Venues include Vonnies Blues Club, one of the top live blues venues in the country, The Brewery Arts Cirencester, Colston Hall Folk Festival, and Treefest. Westonbirt.
He currently is also in Hambling and Lloyd with Phil Hambling and the acoustic duo Union of Strings with Chris Ongers.
